Winter in Queensland. The sun is shining, and the daytime temperature is still higher than 20 degrees. No better way than to spend your weekend then at Big4 Gold Coast that also offers dog friendly camping. Amazing location if you want to explore the theme parks nearby or other amazing attractions at the Gold Coast and surrounds. We are quite lucky at Queensland Camping as the Big4 is less than an hour from our home and has so much entertainment that kept us as busy or as relaxed as we wanted, we didn’t even leave the park.

Location of BIG4 Gold Coast
Located within 15 minutes to the centre of the Gold Coast. It is also a perfect location to visiting the theme parks Movie World, Wet and Wild, Dreamworld and White Water World – to name a few of the great attracions nearby.
Accommodation Options at BIG4 Gold Coast
Sites check in as early as 11am and cabins 2pm but give them a call if you would like to arrange early late or a late check out. Check in has been made super easy with the paperwork being completed online prior to check in. When we arrived, it was a very smooth process with a friendly staff member meeting us at our car and checking us in on their ipad. We then followed another friendly staff member to our suite where they guided us to parking our van into our site.
They have a range of accommodation from non-powered sites through to cabins/villas and even a motel. We have booked a powered site for one night. For 2 adults and 2 children on a Saturday night in school holidays we paid $62. Prices are cheaper in non-school holiday peak period. We were in a standard site near the waterpark. If you are a light sleeper like myself, I could hear the highway noise so I would look at booking one of the ensuite or riverwalk sites or pack some ear plugs. But really the highway noise is not something that would stop me from visiting this amazing kid and dog friendly caravan park.
They have pet friendly cabins as well as sites available. You will just need to give them a call to discuss your dog or travel needs. Dogs are welcome at most of the camp facilities even the café is dog friendly. They have kennels available if you need to leave your dog for the day from 9 am-5 pm for $20 a day, you just need to see reception to book in. We saw so many families this weekend enjoying camping with dogs.
Activities and Facilities at BIG4 Gold Coast
Right next to the water park is the heated pool with slide, kids pool, spa, jumping pillow, activities room and café. We decided to treat ourselves to dinner and the prices were very reasonable, the servings very generous and the staff amazing. They even have a fireplace that is on at night time during the cooler months. The following is an example of the children’s activities that were offered during our stay.
There is a creek so you can go fishing, foot pool, bocce, frisbee golf, off-road remote-control car track, a massive oval as well as a huge off the leash area. Bikes and scooters are welcome at the park as well.
The amenities block is amazing with an aquarium that you could just sit on the chairs outside and enjoy watching. There are lots of hot showers that offer a shower screen and a large change area for each cubicle. There is a baby chair that will keep your baby secure while you have a shower, or you could use the family bathroom which offers a bathtub as well. There is a laundromat if needed onsite.
This camp kitchen is also deluxe with 3 areas that are the same as below – oven, cooktop, fridge, toaster, kettle and sink. There is also bbq’s, seating areas, tv and another relaxing aquarium. There is also another bbq area in the park that you can enjoy with your family and friends.
So, if you are looking for a kid and dog friendly Big 4 at the Gold Coast then I recommend that you should book in and check this place out.
