Location of the Rollingstone Beachfront Resort

Located just 55 km north of Townsville, the Rollingstone Beachfront Resort is just a few kilometres off the Bruce Highway at the end of Hencamp Road.

While not too much around in the immediate vicinity, just a short drive away are a few places worth noting.  On the Bruce Highway, just a 5 minute drive away, there is the Rollingstone Hotel and a BP petrol station where you can pick up a few supplies.  Then just a 15 minute drive away on the next beach south is the Mystic Sand Golf Club, where you can get meals and the Fishermans Landing fish and chips shop.

Then about 20 to 30 minutes north, you have the Paluma Range National Park, which is a great place to explore.

Rollingstone Camping and Accommodation Options

The Rollingstone Beachfront Resort offers both campsites and cabins, which are discussed further below.   Check out the park map here so you can where the different sites and cabins are located.

Camping and Van Sites

With the property being 31 acres, there are plenty of sites are on offer, with both powered and unpowered sites being available.  The park is also split into two sections, with the smaller section being pet friendly.  This is great, as rather being either pet friendly or not – it caters to both kinds of travellers – for those with dogs and those who prefer not to travel with dogs.

The different campsites available are briefly discussed below.

Powered Beachfront Sites

For fabulous views across the beach, the powered beachfront sites are the best.  There are beachfront sites in both sections, with the dog friendly beachfront sites being best in terms of beachfront – as they are directly on the beach (see main image above).  The non pet friendly area has a narrow road in between the sites and the beach.   So if you want absolute beachfront – ask to be in the dog friendly section – it really is beautiful down this end of the beach!

All of these Rollingstone beach camping sites include power and water.

Powered beachfront sites start at $55 per night.

Powered Sites

As well as powered sites by the beach, there are also powered Rollingstone camping sites just a block back from the beach, as well as around the lake.  These sites come in all sizes, even sites big enough for those with a 22ft van – so no matter your set up, there is the perfect site for you.

There are powered sites that are pet friendly, as well as those that aren’t – so let them know your preference when booking.

Powered ensuite sites start at $49 per night.

Powered Ensuite Sites

A powered ensuite site is a great way to add a little bit of luxury to your camping experience.  There are only 12 ensuite sites, so book quickly if you’d like one of these.

The ensuite sites are located just a few hundred metres from the beachfront, so they are well located. But, unfortunately, there are no ensuite sites in the pet friendly area.

Powered ensuite sites start at $60 per night.

Unpowered Lakefront Sites

With three lakes, there is plenty of lakefront campsites available.  Most lakefront sites are unpowered and perfect for fishing campers or those wanting a waterfront site without the winds usually associated with beachfront camping.

All of the unpowered lakefront sites are dog friendly.

Powered lakefront sites start at $42 per night.

Cabins and Villas

For those non campers, there are plenty of great cabins available, including one, two or three bedroom villas and cabins. Below is a brief overview of all the different Rollingstone accommodation options.

Waterfront Villas and Cabins

For beautiful ocean views, you’ll want to stay in one of the waterfront villas or cabins that Rollingstone Beachfront Resort offer.  The other bonus of staying in these gorgeous villas is you’ve got the huge lagoon style swimming pool right behind you!

For the ultimate Rollingstone beach accommodation, book the two bedroom spa villa, which is just metres from the ocean.  These villas sleep up to four people coming with a queen bed in one room and two singles in the second bedroom.  These villas are like a home away from home, coming with a spacious living area, separate toilet and bathroom (complete with spa!), fully equipped kitchen, and a large balcony complete with an outdoor dining table, BBQ and beautiful ocean views.  These villas start from $263 per night.

For large families, there are two spacious three bedroom villas that can sleep up to eight people.  The master bedroom and second bedroom has a queen bed, while the third bedroom has two single beds.  Just like the spa villa, the three bedroom is spacious, coming with all you need for a comfortable stay.  It has a spacious living area, two bathrooms (one is an ensuite to the master bedroom), a fully equipped kitchen, and a large balcony complete with an outdoor dining table, BBQ and beautiful ocean views.  These villas start from $263 per night.

Alternately there are a few smaller waterfront cabins that can sleep five people.  There is a queen in the master bedroom and a set of bunks in the second bedroom, with the bottom bed being a double.  Other than that, it comes with a spacious living area, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, and a large balcony with an outdoor dining table, BBQ and ocean views.  These villas start from $210 per night.

Cabins and Studios

While these cabins and studios may not be beachfront, being just a few hundred metres from the beach, some of them still have some great ocean views – even if some of them may just be partial ocean views.  These cabins can sleep anywhere from two to six people and are also just a short hop, skip and jump from the swimming pool and playground – making them excellent for families.

There are a couple of two bedroom cabins sleeping between four and six people.  All two bedroom cabins come with a queen bed in the master bedroom and a set of bunk beds in the second bedroom (the bottom bed being a double).  However, some cabins also have an additional single bed in the second bedroom.  In addition, they come with a spacious living area, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, and a large balcony with an outdoor dining table, BBQ and some ocean views.  These cabins start from $185 per night.

For couples, there is also the option of a studio cabin.  These open plan cabins come with a queen bed, small living and dining area, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and large balcony with outdoor table and chairs and BBQ.  These cabins start from $158 per night.

Activities and Facilities At Rollingstone Beachfront Resort

The best thing about staying at the Rollingstone Beachfront Resort is there is plenty to do!  Here’s a brief overview of the various activities on offer and things to do.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool at Rollingstone is huge!  It’s a lovely 30 metre lagoon style swimming pool with heaps of lounges, tables and chairs.  As well as the large swimming pool, there is a smaller wading pool for the smaller kids.

Cafe, Restaurant and Bar

On Saturday nights, from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm, there is a licensed bar and restaurant serving up wood fire pizzas.   Pizza prices range from $10 to $19.

They also have live music too and play movies for the kids.

Playground

Just by the swimming pool, there is a small playground – probably only really suitable for the little kids.  It’s fenced, which is excellent for tiny tots and being right by the swimming pool, parents can supervise little ones in the playground and older kids in the pool.

Basketball Court

For the sporty families or older kids, be sure to bring a ball and head down to the basketball court for a game or two.

BMX Track

Close to the basketball court, there is a BMX track for those kids that like to show off on their bikes.  I’ve seen a few of these BMX tracks in my time while visiting different campgrounds and I have to say this is certainly one of the better ones.  Your bike riding kids will love it here!

Giant Jumping Pillow

If you need to tire out the kids, take them down to the giant jumping pillow!  This jumping pillow is completely undercover and so out of the sun.  There are also picnic tables close by for parents to relax while supervising the kids.

I also love how the jumping pillow is between the basketball court and BMX track, so if you have multiple kids wanting to do different things, you can still supervise them all.

Fishing and Fish Feeding

For those who enjoy fishing, you’ll enjoy the three large catch and release lakes where you can catch barramundi.  Each afternoon at 3.30 pm, they also have an area where they do fish feeding.

You can also head out to the beach for fishing too.

Amenities at Rollingstone Beachfront Resort

Below is a brief overview of the different amenities available at Rollingstone.

Camp Kitchen

Located in the centre of the park, close to the swimming pool, is a large camp kitchen for guests to use.

Toilets and Showers

There are three large amenity blocks scattered throughout the park.  This means no matter where you camp, you won’t need to walk too far to the loo.  Each of the amenity blocks has a stack of toilets and a stack of showers and during our stay, we never waited once to use either.  We also found them reasonably clean and had plenty of hooks and things for hanging clothes and your towel.

Laundry

Within the two main amenities blocks is a coin operated guest laundry.  Washing machines and dryers are $4 per load / cycle.

Dump Point

There is one dump point located outside the amenity block located closest to the camp kitchen and cafe.

Kiosk

Like most tourist parks, within the office / reception area is a small kiosk selling various items, including ice cream, drinks and basic grocery items etc.
