About the Vintage Glampervans

Vintage Glampervans currently have two gorgeous little vans which have lovingly been named “Frankie” and “Willow”.  There is also a third girl on her way called “Fern” which should be ready for hire in late 2020.  Currently, Frankie and Willow are spending some time at Kookaburra Park and can be booked out there; otherwise, they are usually available to be booked for anywhere around the Sunshine Coast.

We recently had the pleasure of staying in Frankie and our friends stayed in Willow while we spent the weekend at Kookaburra Park (read our review here).  Driving up the long gravel driveway to where they were situated – we all squealed in delight as we first caught a glimpse of these bright and quirky vans.  The set up is just gorgeous, without a single detail being missed.  The vans are surrounded by a cute little white picket fence, complete with fake grass and comfy chairs surrounding a fire pit as well as a hammock.  After seeing this, we all couldn’t wait to check out the inside.

Inside every single detail of these vans as been well thought out and all the little furnishings and decor pieces have been carefully chosen to ensure each of the vans has their own little personality.  Each of the vans come with everything you need for a weekend away, including basic cooking facilities, comfortable beds, all bed linen and towels, all crockery needed for cooking and serving up meals.  Even basic staples like tea, coffee, salt and pepper, cooking oil etc are supplied.  You literally just need to bring your clothes and food (and perhaps an esky because the fridges are on the small side).

Here is a brief overview of what each of the vans come with:

  • All bedding linen including pillows, sheets, doonas and mattress protectors
  • Bath towels
  • Cutlery, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and wine glasses
  • Utensils including cutting knife, wooden spoon, spatula, thongs, peeler, bottle opener, serving spoon, cheese knife and measuring spoons
  • Cooking equipment including fry pan and saucepans
  • Kettle and toaster
  • Prep and serving gear like cutting board, salad bowl and other plastic containers
  • Cleaning items like tea towels, wet cloths, washing up detergent, dustpan and bin.

While all the vans are similar in that they provide everything you need for cooking and sleeping – they do have their own individual differences.  Let’s check them out below:

Willow

Willow is easy to pick because she is all things light and bright and has a real spacious and bohemian feel to her.

This van is ideal for a small family as she comes with a double bed down one end and the kitchen table at the other end converts into a small double bed.  Our friends who are family of 4 with two young boys stayed in this van and all fitted in very comfortably.

Frankie

You’ll spot Frankie a mile away with her bright blue features!  Frankie is all things bright and funky and you’ll feel energetic and happy as soon as you’re around her.

Frankie is perfect for a family with two singles beds at one end and at the other end, the table converts into a double bed for Mum and Dad.  This is the van we stayed in recently and while on first look I thought it was going to be a tight squeeze getting us all in, I needn’t have worried because there was plenty of room for us all.

Fern

Fern I haven’t seen in the flesh, but I have seen some photos of her and she has a classy vintage style to her.  Once complete this van will be the perfect couples retreat – coming with a large queen bed at one end and spacious seating area at the other, this van has plenty of space.

Things to Note for Hiring

If you’re like “sign me up – where can I book” – here a few things to note about hiring out one of the Vintage Glampervans:

  • These vans can be delivered anywhere within the Sunshine Coast region – contact Vintage Glampervans to discuss going further afield.
  • You will need to book a powered site for the vans as they require power to be fully functional – you need to book the site yourself – this is separate to the van booking.
  • Make sure 4WD access is not required to your site.
  • There is a minimum hire of two nights – which is $95 per night.
  • In addition to the booking rates, there is a $100 fee to cover the delivery, set up and set down of the vans.
  • As mentioned above – bring an esky with ice as the fridges are small and most likely won’t fit all your food for a weekend.
  • If you’re not keen on cooking inside the van, bring a BBQ for outside cooking.

Vintage Glampervans – Our Verdict

We love camping, but staying in these gorgeous little glampervans from the 1960s was something different and quite a bit of fun.  Not to mention loads more comfortable than sleeping in a tent!

It’s clear to see that Amanda from Vintage Glampervans just loves what she does.  Every single detail of these vans has been thoughtfully considered and nothing has been done by accident.  I just loved how every piece of decor has been chosen to really create a unique personality for the vans.

As mentioned, Frankie and Willow are currently based at Kookaburra Park, a fantastic farm stay camping ground on the Sunshine Coast – so you can come and stay in one of these gorgeous vans there.  It’s unsure at this stage if the vans will stay there permanently and so if they don’t you’ll be able to hire them out somewhere on the Sunshine Coast once they leave Kookaburra Park.  However, once Fern has completed her makeover, you’ll be able to hire her out and be the envy of your friends and every single other person at the campsite whether you decide to take her.
